Situated in area of sensitive vegetation, overlooking the Bot River lagoon, this house responds to the topography and the vegetation of a site. It has a simple, bold single-storey street elevation clad in wood on the street side. Facing the lagoon, the house is open and fully glazed to make the most of the extraordinary view. To the west, the front double-storey elevation is fully shuttered to allow changing responses to the harsh sunlight off sea. Off-shutter concrete, glass and natural materials are used to provide warmth and texture. The flat roofs, landscaped with vegetation rescued from the site, contrast with the lagoon views beyond.
