Bridge house draws on the terrain to emphasize and preserve a donga (gully) that traverses the site, providing some relief and shade. The concept comprises a ‘bridge’ over the donga, supported by a concrete pier on one side and by the rest of the house on the other. This allows for a feeling of seclusion in the garden and pool area while also taking advantage of the sweeping views on offer.

Design challenges included a slanted semi-cantilevered staircase. The curved brick retaining walls around the donga echo the flow of the stream while also providing some form-action for structural economy.
