WINERIES

Henry Fagan was appointed as the Consulting Structural and Civil Engineers for this project. The civil work involved the installation of services for winery effluent, stormwater and groundwater drainage, the construction of roads around the winery and excavations for the submerged section of the new building.

The structural work included raft foundations for the buildings, columns, beams, slabs and retaining walls. The design of the roof structure over the red wine cellar presented an interesting challenge, since the red wine fermentation tanks, weighing up to 27 tonnes each, are suspended from the trusses. Aesthetic and cost considerations played a major role in the design of the structures.

The team spirit and co-operation between all the members of the professional team, the main contractor and all the sub-contractors has made this project a pleasurable one.
